SBHS 2011-2012

One Love- water is wide

Our video one love we tired to envoke a feeling of compassion and hope for nature and the animals in it. We want wanted to the audience to see and love nature and its purest and best, then we wanted people to see what the human spieies as a whole is doing to our envoirment and wild life. We wanted our audience to be a little disturbed at what they saw to envoke a sense of urgencie in them to make them want to help and protect the enviorment.
From the middle where the trere is on fire to about the end ,we used intense images and alot of dark effects to get out point across. until about the very end we use more lighter effect like solorize and effects of that sort to give the end of the movie a lighter feel and the feeling of hope as if something could and can be done to help our envioremnt and to show that people and animals could exsist. We did not use alot of abstract images.

Reflecting on my blog

At the beginngin of this class I didn't know a thing about making videos. I didn't know anything about inserts and overlays and camera angles. But a lot of that has changed now. Early in the year, I didn't know how to post the videos in the right format. You can see that in some of my older posts but now With more practice and knowledge I know exactly the right format and everything. Something that I have improved on a lot would be my editing. In my group video on cyberbullying, I was the editor and you can see how I grew from that editing through the video. Another axample would be in the lunch line video. There was great improvement in both. Throughout the year I learned about camera angles and storyboards. Those two things com,e hand in hand when you are planning to film a video. You can see the distinguished shots I chose to use in the lunch line video. That really shows how I have learned and improved this year. I leraned how to use special effects very well during the year and I am now very comfortable using them in clips. You can see my improvement on those from the last view videos I have uploaded. Another thing I have learned this year would be the over the shoulder technique. I have learned the importance of this when filming because of how it represents the character that is being shown. Another thing that is shown on my blog would be the title work shops. Now they seem very easy to do but in the beginning it was very comfusing to me. These are things that are shown throughout my blog that reflect how I have improved this year.
Something that I have improved on that you cannot see on my blogs would be how to download film from cameras and how to operate cameras. Im really impresses with myself that I now know how to do these things because I always felt that I wasnt really good with technology. But I remember in the beginning of the year when we learned how to work the camera and upload clips it just stuck with me and I practiced it throughout the year so I improved so much.
My experience in this class has been amazing. There have been some stressful times but overall it has taught me so much and I want to continue film making as a hobby. This class has definately opened up a new door for me. I have learned so many cool things that I want to put in to practice even after I dont have this class anymore.

Replicate Effect

For this effect, you go to the stylize folder and choose replicate. You want to adjust the count starting from 2 count and moving up as you please to the next count which replicates the clip in the video and then moving it slowly back down from the 5th count back to 2 count. You might use this in a movie that wants to emphasize the subject by duplicating it.

Bend Effect

For this effect, you go to the distort folder and choose bend. You want to adjust the wave height from 10 to 52 throught the whole clip adjusting it as you please. You do the same with wave width (starting from 40), direction (starting from 90)and wave speed (starting from 1) adjusting the numbers as you please. You might use this in a movie where some one has psychic powers.

Thinking about Our Final Values Video

POSITIVE COMMENTS:
The positive comments that were meaningful to us were from Luis and Lizzy and Elisa and Damon. They told us that our video was almost perfect and they like how it all worked together, that was helpful because it made us feel proud of what we've accomplished. Inaddition they told us how they liked the message and that helped us see that we did a good job presenting the conflict and resolution.

Luis and Lizzy:
On a scale of 1-10, we rate the editing a 9. We think that if you have cleaner cuts your video will be more perfect than it already is

Zach and Sam:
We especially liked the close up shot of Julissa’s eyes because it helped emphasize the idea that Julissa was deciding weither or not to take the money.

Elissa and Damon:
We really liked the message and how everything worked together.

Maria and Demi:
We really like the shot of julissa's eyes whitch created an intense emotion.

SUGGESTIONS:
The two best suggestions we got were from Hayley and Kayla.
They suggested that use a fade between the shots of Ryan and Julissa bumping into eachother and then the medium shot of Ryan. We agree with this sugfestion and our plan is to look at it and maybe put a fade if it works.
Alicia and Jorge suggested that we put liz in the background to show that Julissa didn't know she was there from the begining. We agree with this suggestion and our plan could be to refilm a couple shots and then insert them.
Alicia and Jorge:
To add to your rising action, you could show a shot of Liz sort of in the background, emphasizing that Julissa did not see her watching the whole thing.

Alexis:
One part I would kinda fix would be the part where she looks around all crazy was bit outt set point.

Luis and Lizzy:
You could add to the resolution by showing how Ryan reacts when he gets his money back and what happens after that.

Hayley and Kayla:
We noticed that between the guy bumping into the girl and the guy talking, you used a straight cut when he steps back. We would have used a special effect transition instead, because it's really awkward that he hits her and then we're just right in his face a step back.

Rough Draft; You forgot your money

Dr.A's instructions to do the refeltion as a group
Group Reflection
The Vaules we want to represent is doing the right thing, honesty, and integrity.
We think we have done teamwork very well as a group and we are very proud of ourselves and of eachother.
We still need to place everything together. (titles, credits, bloopers)
We are in need of feedback about if we needed to shoot a scene in different angles.
As a group we feel that we didnt have a big challenge that we had to face because we got all our work done fast and were very dedicated to finishing it within our class. We planned everythiong out which helped with not having any challenges. Discussing our plans with our group was how we addressed everything.

Over The Shoulder Activity

The way my group planned our shots were that we went by each line of dialogue and invisioned how we would like to set it up. The realizations that we made were that we weren't all the same height so we had to fix it by shooting sitting down. I believe we followed the rule of thirds because our heads were where the circles would be. The impressions that this makes is that you can see the body language of the person who is not talking but whose heads is towards the camera. The dialogue seems realistic. We had a bit of a different tone which made it a little hard but in the end it sounded right. The mood and tone of our video is a bit of anticipation but also funny. We accomplished this by emphasizing our words more than usual. Other observations about this shot would be that you have to be in the same spot and not move around so much or else it will not match when editing. Other things that got reinforced when doing this project would be finding the right camera angles and editing. It was nice to brush up on those.
